You walk down a street, whistling a cheery little tune you made up yourself. The fresh scent of rain clings to the air, and you inhale deeply.

You hop along to the beat of the song in your heart, but fail to notice a large puddle.
Suddenly, your feet are swept out from under you as you slip and land sprawling on the ground.

You scramble upright, annoyed at the large wet spot on your butt.

A little creature walks up to you. "I saw that coming," it says. "Want to know what else I see in your future?"

"Seriously?" you ask, fully intent on walking away.

"One gold, and I'll tell you what I see...unless you want to walk in another pothole and skin a knee?"
The creature hobbles away, vanishing behind a tapestry which functions as a door to a little hovel.

Deciding not to risk fate more than neccesary, you enter the little hovel.
The creature holds out a tiny clawed hand, waiting for the gold.

You stalk home after a long day. The wind rips at your coat, but you ignore it, your sight set on the path leading you to that warm mug of tea waiting for you.

"I saw the future in your stars," a little voice calls from your right. "Come with me. I can foretell your fate"

You see the glint of torch light reflected in the creature's eyes before they quickly turn and hobble into a dilapidated room built of sticks and stones.

You hesitate, changing course isn't something you like to do once you have your mind made up. But, what is the worse that could happen? You decide to follow the creature.

Lifting the tapestry, which serves as a doorway to a strange little hovel, you enter a dimly lit room filled of pure chaos.

You watch as the creature settles behind a table covered in debris. Little horns peek out of his cloak, large reptilian eyes peer up at you. The creatures pulls out a pouch filled with rocks and bones, scattering it on the table in front of you.

Stubby clawed hands wave over the scattered bones. The single burning candle flicker as the creature grins and holds up its other claw.

"One gold, and I'll tell you what I see"

You roll your eyes. You're not paying for this. You turn to leave, annoyed you deviated from your regular routine.

"Wait!" the creature calls after you. "You should hear this!"

You strut down the road on your way home from a long day. Everywhere you go, people lift their heads, noticing you, drawn by your natural magnetism and charm.

A little creature bumps into you.

Suppressing a snarl, you glower at it. 

"I saw the future in your stars," it said from beneath a heavy cloak. "Come with me so I can foretell your fate."

Before you can comment, the creature quickly turns and hobbles down an alley, dissapearing into a dilapidated room built of sticks and stones.

Annoyed, but slightly curious, you follow it. Don't let it be said you aren't brave!

You lift the tapestry to enter a dimly lit room filled with lots of books, trinkets of dragons, dangling crystals, and skeletons of various creatures displayed as art.

The creature settles behind a table covered in stacks of books and junk. It pulls out a pouch filled with rocks and bones, scattering it on the table in front of you.

Stubby clawed hands wave over the scattered bones. The single burning candle flicker as the creature grins and holds up its other claw.

On a slightly unrelated note, and because I want to share something positive with you guys. I entered a short story writing contest (1000 words and other specific details we had to meet) and the results came in today. Out of over 2500 entries, my short story was one of the top 5 finalists! And I was the only one who didn't use the bonus points in that group. To say I am buzzing with excitement is an understatement!

As someone who writes epic length books (170k + words) this was an enormous challenge, but I did it! Just finishing a story in 1000 words felt like an impossible achievement.

Zodiac Adventure...

It's late, your parents told you to stay indoors where it's safe. But you know, beyond those walls exists life and adventure. You put on your sturdiest boots and climb out of the window to your room. You've done this many times afterall. Each stepped planned, mapped in your perfect analytical mind. (you rebel!)

Pulling up your hood, you slip into the alley and bump into a stubby creature cloaked in shadows.

"Sorry," you mumble, ready to bolt to your favourite place in the entire world--the library, who hosts a secret night reading group where you can devour the most delicious smut. (Hey, I had to corrupt my little virgo somehow!)
 
"I saw the future in your stars," the creature's words catch on the wind. "Come with me. I can foretell your fate." The glint of lantern light reflects in the creature's over-large eyes before they quickly turn and hobble into a dilapidated room built of sticks and stones further down the alley.

Frowning, you decide to follow the strange creature despite it taking you off your perfectly plotted route.

You lift the tapestry to enter a dimly lit room filled with lots of books, trinkets of dragons pinned to tapesties, dangling crystals, and skeletons of various creatures displayed as art (okay, fine, I'm describing my room).

Nerves tingle down your spine, but you are curious as the creature settles behind a table covered in books and baubles.

Your lip pulls up in a sneer...someone needs to show this creature how to organize their life! How do they even find things in this disaster?

Oblivious to your critical thoughts, the creatures pulls out a pouch filled with rocks and bones, scattering it on the table in front of you.

And after this strange encounter, you are ready to get lost in a delicious book with the warm tea the librarian provides during the reader group.
